Buzzard
Red Kite
The Common Buzzard is a medium-sized bird of prey commonly seen soaring over UK fields and woodlands. It is characterized by broad, rounded wings, a short neck, and a fanned tail. Its plumage is highly variable, ranging from deep brown to pale cream. It is easily recognized by its distinctive, cat-like mewing call.
The red kite (Milvus milvus) is a medium-sized, highly graceful bird of prey known for its deeply forked tail, long angled wings, and russet-brown plumage. Primarily scavengers, they feed on carrion, small mammals, and earthworms. Once hunted to near-extinction in the UK, they are now a celebrated conservation success story.
